As a traveler with a wanderlust spirit, I've had the joy of exploring 28 states across the United States so far, and while it's not quite everywhere in this vast country, it's been a fantastic start. For the past six months, I decided to switch gears and dedicate my adventures to discovering more of my own backyard, choosing to explore the corners and cities of the land I call home rather than jet-setting abroad. And you know what? It's been an eye-opening journey.

Along this incredible journey, I've stumbled upon some American gems that have captured my heart in ways I never imagined. While international adventures have their own allure, there's something special about exploring the beauty of America right in our own backyard.

I'm excited to share my favorite American cities so far, each offering its own distinct flavor and charm. These cities have left an indelible mark on my journey, making me fall in love with the country I call home all over again. Let's dive into this red, white, and blue adventure and uncover what makes these cities so incredibly special.

New Orleans

New Orleans, Louisiana, my absolute favorite city in the United States, holds a treasure trove of memories from multiple visits with my best friends. It's always been a standout for me. The city's unique blend of being laid back yet lively and energetic, with a witchy and bohemian atmosphere, makes it truly one of a kind. The European charm in the French Quarter adds a touch of magic that's hard to find anywhere else in the USA. And let's remember the mouthwatering Southern cuisine that's simply unbeatable. New Orleans, you're a true gem, and I can't get enough of your vibrant, welcoming spirit.

San Francisco

San Francisco, California, hands down, is one of my all-time favorite cities in America. I was lucky enough to call it home for ten incredible weeks, and what made it truly special was how I instantly felt welcomed and embraced by this diverse and vibrant community. It's that feeling of truly being part of something bigger. And let's talk about Chinatown – it's an absolute food paradise! It's where I discovered my undying love for those scrumptious sesame balls that are just bursting with flavor. San Francisco, you've got a piece of my heart!

San Diego

San Diego, California, has firmly secured its spot as one of my top picks among U.S. cities. As my first California destination and home for five blissful weeks, it's a place that instantly made me feel relaxed and at ease. The city's easy navigation, stunning beaches in every direction, and the added bonus of being just a train ride away from devouring some mouthwatering Mexican tacos in Tijuana all add up to an unforgettable experience. San Diego's sunny vibes and laid-back atmosphere make it a place I hold near and dear.

New York

New York, New York – it's simply one of my all-time favorite American cities. The energy and opportunities you find in the Big Apple are incredibly intoxicating. There's a certain 'don't care' attitude that makes me feel like I can be anyone I want to be when I'm there. Plus, let's not forget the food scene; it's like heaven for your taste buds. New York has this magical way of embracing you and making you feel at home while simultaneously challenging you to grow and explore.

Denver

Denver, Colorado, has become one of my top picks among American cities, and I've got five weeks of living here to back that up. I now understand why so many folks flock to the Mile High City. Sure, it's far from the beach, but the nature here more than makes up for it. The coffee scene is booming, making it a caffeine lover's dream. And for music enthusiasts– the city's got a rhythm of its own. And, of course, let's not forget it's home to some of the best cannabis and thrift stores in the country. Denver is a multifaceted gem that never ceases to amaze.

Wilmington

Wilmington, North Carolina, holds a special place on my list of favorite U.S. cities. It might be smaller compared to some big names, but that's precisely what gives it that charm. With its relaxed, beachy atmosphere and the unbeatable North Carolina coastline, it's a dream destination for beach lovers like me. The beaches here are my absolute favorites in the country, and Wilmington is the perfect launching point for coastal adventures. It's the kind of city that embodies the best of both worlds - laid-back and bursting with beauty.

Columbus

Columbus, Ohio, has always been a top pick among American cities for me. Being the nearest big city to my hometown, I've naturally gravitated here, spending loads of quality time with family and exploring. Whether I'm back in Ohio for a visit or an extended stay, Columbus offers that perfect mix of familiarity and endless adventures that never fail to captivate me. It's like an old friend, always welcoming and full of new surprises, making it an evergreen favorite in my book.

Seattle

Seattle, Washington, has long held a special place in my heart, even though I haven't had the pleasure of visiting yet. But the excitement is real because I'm packing my bags and heading there next week! What makes Seattle so incredible, you ask? Well, it's a city tailor-made for us coffee lovers. With its rich coffee culture, it's like a caffeine paradise waiting to be explored. I can't wait to sip my way through the Emerald City and soak in all the java joy it has to offer. Seattle, here I come, ready to caffeinate my way to pure bliss!
